Local radio station comment on all the crashes this morning and the subsequent traffic due to “winter precipitation”:

“Well, it’s been over 6 months so everyone forgot what to do.”

Old joke but never wrong.

Dude on the radio last night (in DETROIT, emphasized on purpose) was going on and on about how he “wasn’t ready for snow yet, what the hell, I don’t want this” and topped it off with “well it’s Michigan so you never know what you’re going to get from the weather”.

NO I do know what I’m going to get - SNOW IN DECEMBER. what is wrong with this guy? It’s not July. That would be a “never know what you’re going to get from Michigan weather”. Snow in December is STANDARD. Par for the course man.

I admit I’m a bit more worked up about this than I should be. But if you don’t expect snow in Detroit in the winter - you need to move, you don’t belong in this area.

The biggest problem here is that somehow, the town road works guys seem to have lost all the keys to the plow trucks.

They waited to plow until AFTER morning commute time. School buses full of kids were pulling off on the side of the road and waiting WITHOUT telling the school. Unbelievable.

That stuff bugs me.

People react like, “Ahhhh!!!! I can’t take this! Why is winter here?!?!?!”

Well, you live in the northern parts of the country where it is cold at certain times of the year and shit happens.

“I should just move.”

Yes...please do.

Stay strong.

yeah, honestly we have been really lucky so far weather wise. It usually has snowed a lot more by this time.

That’s not necessarily unbelievable...just dumb.

We got 2 feet of snow one weekend and sidewalks weren’t clear, corners were piled higher than cars and kids were expected to walk to either their bus stops or the school. When less than 50% of the student population showed up on Monday they cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday so they could clear the main road sidewalks.

It’s been snowing in the mountains in Hawaii, which has caused some “WTF” on the internet at large. Not what you’d call a commuter area, but a little unusual.

Kinja'd!!!

Then again, it’s so high altitude that there aren’t normal rules for what’s going on up there, and it’s only 20 degrees from the equator....

Apparently there was a light dusting in July of last year, if that helps frame things.

My general assumption of mountains includes snowcaps haha.

But, yeah, that’s a little odd.

Last year we had freezing rain on Haloween and the ground was covered only days after. It’s December for God’s sake get over it or get out.

Yup.

I recognize all 4 seasons. It’s something I say when explaining why I live where I live and why I will not live in tornado alley. It was my response when someone told me it was “tornado season” when I was visiting.

Technically tornadoes can occur anywhere. They have been observed on six continents, except Antarctica.

Germany had tornadoes like last week or so.

However they are far more prevalent in a certain region of the US. Mostly because God hates Oklahoma.

There was a tornado in western Mass a few years ago. We just don’t have a dedicated season for it.

Ha! Yeah there’s no reason to live in a portion of the country that has weather you don’t like. We have the privilege of living in a country where not only are we ALLOWED to move to any state we please at any time, we have literally EVERY climate to choose from. If you’re not happy, make the move.
